So, you spent hours decorating the tree, all the presents were nestled underneath, but now it’s nearly New Year and you’re wondering what to do with your tree.

Different councils provides different services so check below for how to dispose of your Christmas tree this year.

Lewisham

Here is a list of the different recycling points you can take your tree to:

  • Deptford Park, entrance in Scawen Road
  • Telegraph Hill, Pepys Road/Kitto Road entrance
  • Talbot Place, Blackheath
  • Mountsfield Park, entrance at top of George Lane
  • Sydenham Wells Park, entrance Wells Park Road
  • Forster Memorial Park, entrance top of Whitefoot Lane
  • Northbrook Park, Baring Road entrance
  • Mayow Park, entrance in Mayow Road
  • Chinbrook Meadows, Amblecote Road
  • Manor House Gardens, Old Road entrance*
  • Beckenham Place Park, Old Bromley Road entrance
  • Blythe Hill, Codrington Hill entrance.

You can leave your trees here at any point throughout January 2018.

Greenwich

Greenwich Council will recycle your real Christmas tree as part of your weekly collection. If you would like your tree collected:

Remove all decorations and and pot

Place the tree at the front of your property, not in the bin

Make sure you put it out before 6am to guarantee it is collected with your weekly collection.

Bromley

Bromley Council has set up specific recycling centres for Christmas trees and green garden which are open on either January 6 or January 7.

Saturday 6 January 2018: 11am to 4pm

  • Bromley, Norman Park (Hook Farm Road entrance off Bromley Common, A21)
  • Green Street Green, Salt Depot (Shire Lane 'spur', off Sevenoaks Road)
  • St Paul's Cray, Cotmandene Crescent car park (off Chipperfield Road)

Sunday 7 January 2018: 8am to 12noon

  • Beckenham, Unicorn Primary School (Creswell Drive off South Eden Park Road)
  • Biggin Hill, Charles Darwin School (Jail Lane)

Bexley

Bexley Council will only be collecting Christmas trees from properties which are part of the garden waste service. Please cut your tree in half and place it next to your garden waste bin on your collection day.

Garden waste collections will be suspended week commencing 25 December for two weeks - resuming again on Monday 8 January.

Dartford

Put your real Christmas tree in your brown bin for recycling or take it to the Household Waste Recycling Centres at Pepperhill or Dartford Heath for recycling.

Sevenoaks

From Tuesday, January 2, to Friday, February 2, Sevenoaks Council can collect your real Christmas tree for free with the garden waste collection service that visits your road once a fortnight.

All the trees they collect are turned into environmentally friendly compost. Please remove all ornaments, stands and pots and put your tree out by your boundary before 7am on your garden waste collection day.
