Armed police swooped on a home in Woolwich during a counter-terrorism operation on Tuesday afternoon.
A flat was raided at around 12.30pm, reportedly near to Edge Hill and Sandy Hill Road.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the property, while a 27-year-old woman was detained by police nearby.
A Met spokeswoman said: “Officers have this afternoon (December 5) executed a search warrant at an address in south-east London.
“This was carried out with the assistance of armed officers and is part of an ongoing investigation by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command and a 21-year-old man was arrested at the address.
“Officers continue to carry out a search the address.
“A 27-year-old woman was also arrested earlier today as part of the same investigation after she was stopped by police in a vehicle in a nearby street.”
