Ice-carving, live music, street entertainers and real-life reindeer will be in the centre of Woolwich for its Christmas celebrations.

Starting at noon in General Gordon Square on December 2, the Christmas festival will have a multitude of festive events in the streets and stores.

There will even be Christmas-themed videos shown up on the big screen at the centre of the square.

There will be a lantern lit parade from Powis street to General Gordon Square arriving in the square at 4:55pm in time for the lighting of the Christmas tree.

The parade will then continue, arriving in Artillery Square at 5:25pm, followed by a firework display to conclude the end of the Woolwich Winter Warmer on The Royal Arsenal.

Festivities continue between 4pm and 8pm in the Royal Arsenal’s Artillery Barracks where RARE will be having a free ice skating rink open to everyone.

Councillor Denise-Scott McDonald, cabinet member for culture and creative industries, said: “The Woolwich Winter Warmer is set to be a fantastic event for all the family. There will be something for everyone – from fairground rides, ice carving to live music.”
