Winter is here and with it comes an Arctic chill that is set to drop temperatures below freezing.

The Met Office are warning of "widespread frost" tonight (November 12), with temeratures hitting as low as -3 °C.

In north Kent and south east London, chilly winds will hit the area overnight, with winds blowing in from the north west.

Snow could also be on its way next week, as northerly winds continue to bring freezing weather to the UK.

Over the next five days The Met Office is warning people to expect strong winds, rain, hail and snow in hilly regions.

A spokeswoman from The Met Office said: "There will be drier periods interspersed with spells of rain and hill snow, with the best of any drier and brighter weather in the south and east.

"As we head into the following week there is an increasing chance of seeing generally colder, drier weather with a risk of snow in places, especially the north."
