The father of an 11-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted in by a man in the street has appealed to the public to help catch the attacker.

Detectives have created an efit of the man who is said to have assaulted seven schoolgirls and three women between June 30 and October 19.

All the assaults took place in Bromley, Lewisham or Greenwich when, police say, the man touched the females "inappropriately" before running off.

The father of one of the victims said: “This assault has upset and frightened our 11-year-old daughter immensely.

“This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and has had far reaching implications upon her mental state. Our daughter and her friends are now scared to walk to school on their own, their confidence and feeling of independence have been damaged and our daughter is wondering why she was targeted for this sort of attack.

“Consequently we appeal to anyone to come forward if you know this person (or suspect that you know this person), so that this type of assault can be prevented from affecting any others”.

The man was caught on CCTV on October 5 after he attacked a 25-year-old and then ran away, quickly removing his hat and outer clothing.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Stables, from Lewisham police, said: “We have created an efit following the description given by one of the victims. If anyone recognises this man, please can they contact police.

“We are working closely with local schools to make pupils aware of these incidents and to ensure they are vigilant when walking to and from school.”

Anyone who has information that could help the police should call Greenwich CID via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
