Plans for a restaurant on a new pier on the Thames in the shadow of The O2 have been submitted to the council.

The proposals include a bar and café attached to the restaurant on the riverboat pier.

The new pier will be connected to the Greenwich Peninsula by a link bridge next to the Intercontinental Hotel in the shadow of the iconic arena.

The land at the proposed pier is owned by the hotel company and is not open to the public currently.

The existing pier will be widened to accommodate two concrete dolphin statues on either side of the bridge and the single-storey building will have large windows overlooking the river.

The proposed location does have a tidal range of up to seven metres, especially during the spring.

The plans were submitted to Greenwich Council and validated on October 10 and neighbours have until November 15 to comment on the application.
