The secondary schools with the best and worse pupil progression in Greenwich have been revealed.

Provisional results were released yesterday (October 12) by the government that show how well students did in their GCSE and English Baccalaureate exams.

The schools were ranked on how much grades went up and were given a Progress 8 score.

If the Progress 8 score is above zero it means the school has progressed. If it is below zero it means it has regressed.

The average across Greenwich is -0.05, although not every school has had their provisional results published yet.

In Greenwich, St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive School made the most progress with a score of +1.02.

Just 33 schools in England achieved scores of 1 or above, and St Thomas More was the only one in Greenwich to achieve this.

A spokesperson from St Thomas More said: “We are obviously very proud of the results achieved by the students, especially in this year of great turbulence.

“We had anticipated being +1 before the results coming out but being +1 is fantastic.

“One of our students achieved three 9s in English, Maths and Science, one of fewer than 2,000 students in England and Wales who achieved that.”
