Police in Plumstead are asking the public to help them solve a mystery within the police station doors.

In the lobby at Plumstead Police Station’s senior leadership team there are memorials for officers – but police have realised they know very little about one of the officers.

PC David Mentor, 1963-1989, has a stone dedicated to him but his story has been forgotten.

On Twitter, a spokesman said: “We have had many characters come and go in the senior leadership team and somewhere along the line the information around PC David Mentor has been forgotten.

“We have looked at the Police Roll of Honour and he is not on there, not as an MPS officer.

“He died at such a young age we are looking for the story behind the young man.”

Plumstead police have spoken to the HR department and they also have no record of PC David Mentor.

They are asking for anyone with information to get in contact to help tell David’s story.

If you know anything about this police officer, get in touch.
