An Eltham secondary school has been given the thumbs up by Ofsted inspectors.

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy in Bexley Road, Eltham, was once again rated ‘good’ by inspectors following a one-day visit.

In a report published yesterday (July 20), Ofsted inspectors praised the good behaviour of students, who arrived into school in a calm and orderly manner. Inspectors described their conduct around the building as almost always polite and mature.

Leaders were determined to maintain high standards of behaviour, inspectors said.

The latest ‘good’ rating means the academy maintains the grade it set in 2009.

Executive Principal David Millar said: “I am delighted that the relentless hard work of the staff and students has been recognised by inspectors.”

Mr Millar added: “I am very pleased that Ofsted agreed we know our Academy very well and were very confident that we will continue to improve it.”

Chair of Governors Kevin Dewey said: “I would like to warmly congratulate all staff and students at SCWA on this Ofsted result.

“Since our last inspection in 2009 the bar has been raised by Ofsted and ‘Good’ now really does mean good.

“We should all be encouraged by this result to strive for even better outcomes from the next inspection.”

The Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy is part of the Leigh Academies Trust, a non-profit making charitable company that, according to its website, seeks to help schools achieve "rapid education transformation."
