A second man has been charged with assault after a man was left with serious injuries following an assault outside the O2 Arena in Greenwich.

Police had attended a scene following reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people at Peninsula Square outside the O2 Area.

Officers arrived at the scene at 3.25am where they found an unconscious man, who was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Ahmed Khalil, 26,of Hillary Road, High Wycombe was charged with grievous bodily harm today, 22 February, and will appear on bail at Bromley Magistrates' Court on 23 March.

This follows the arrest and charge of Tony Bowman, 21, of Richard Close, Woolwich on February 13.

He appeared at magistrates' court the same day and is currently bailed to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on a date in March to be confirmed.

Another 21-year-old man was arrested near the scene and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late March.

Officers from Greenwich police continue to investigate the incident.
