A Woolwich man killed in a fight reportedly involving a wet floor sign in Tenerife was described as a “top bloke and a brilliant father” in social media tributes.

Daryl Bhandal, 36, was killed on Friday night at a hotel in the Puerto de Santiago resort, according to the Evening Standard.

Tributes have been paid to the former Woolwich Polytechnic School pupil on social media.

Richard Specter wrote: “R.I.P Daryl Bhandal. Absolute pleasure knowing you!

“Top bloke and a brilliant father. I know a lot of us are still in shock and rightfully so.

“And for everyone paying tributes I'm sure it'll be a huge comfort to his family to know he'll be missed by so many people. Sleep tight big guy”

Brad Mulock wrote on Facebook: “Unbelievable. Totally and utterly unbelievable. RIP mate.”

Another friend said: “I am so sorry to hear the sad news, my thoughts and prays [sic] are with you and your family. RIP.”

The Evening Standard reported that two British tourists, said to have been involved in the altercation, have been arrested.
