Eight people were arrested on suspicion of firearm offences in Plumstead after reports of a gunshot made to police.

Police, supported by armed officers, were called to Barnfield Gardens on the evening of December 30.

Eight people, six men and two women, were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

A number of searches were conducted but no firearm was found or evidence of firearm discharge, nor were there any reported injuries.

All those arrested have been bailed to return to a police station on a date in mid-February.

A Greenwich Council spokesperson said: “The Royal Borough of Greenwich takes any allegations of criminal activity from one of its tenants extremely seriously.

“We are in contact with the Barnfield Gardens residents who have brought a series of serious concerns to our attention and we are working closely with the police to ensure that we take robust enforcement action where evidence allows.”
