The RSPCA is appealing for information after a frightened German shepherd dog was found tied to a tree at the side of a busy road.

The female adult dog, now called Princess, had been abandoned by the A2 in Greenwich.

The RSPCA was called to the scene on November 16, with Princess found freezing and alone by Inspector Anthony Pulfer.

Inspector Pulfer said: “She was tied to a tree in a wooded area which was hidden from the road so she was hugely lucky that someone in the area spotted her.

“To leave her alone, tied to a tree, in the cold and wintry weather is unbelievable. She must have been very confused and frightened to watch someone walking away from her and leaving her alone in the dark.”

As Princess had no microchip, she was taken to the RSPCA’s Leybourne Animal Centre in Kent where staff say she’s doing well.

Inspector Pulfer said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who recognises her and may know where she has come from or from anyone who may have seen her being left in the area last week."

Anyone with information should contact the appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

If you would like to offer Princess a home, contact RSPCA Leybourne by calling 0300 123 0751.
