Three south London primary schools have been named as being some of the best in the country.

Barnes Primary School, St Peter’s Primary school, in Woolwich, and All Saints’ CE primary school in Putney, were named in the top ten schools in the country by the Sunday Times.

The broadsheet will publish its points-based findings in its new edition of ‘The Sunday Times Schools Guide, Parent Power this Sunday’.

Schools were ranked based on the number of pupils who achieved a level 5 in reading writing and maths between 2013-2015.

St Peter’s Assistant Head Teacher, Marna Dubryn, said: “It’s fantastic news, the children have been working so hard and so have the teachers and parents.

“I think one of the reasons why we are successful is because we start early, when the children come in for interview with their parents before they join us at reception level we identify their strengths and get to know what they are like as learners.

“We also don’t just look at the academic side and we have many clubs, whether it’s Hip-Hop, multi-sports, football or art that they can get involved in.

“From year four the children visit the Houses of Parliament once a year, which we feel is a good way for them to learn about democracy and British values.”

All the schools were listed as being either outstanding or good by educational watchdog, Ofsted.
