Kingston

Christmas lights Kingston is well known for putting on a good show to mark the start of the festive season and this year looks set to continue with another strong display. The market will include two large outdoor bars, German-style street food and entertainment.

Last year the town centre was given a Dickensian makeover complete with Victorian street magicians and circus performers

Surbiton

It’s that time of the year again and Surbiton will throw a party as they turn the lights on at this festive event.

New Malden

New Malden won’t have to wait long after Surbiton to see their Christmas Lights get turned on with many being expected to turn out to see the display.

Where: New Malden High Street

Sutton

Locals might go N.U.M.B with excitement at this year’s Christmas lights switch on as Britain’s Got Talent runner-up and local lad Wayne Woodward will turn on the lights later this month. Hundreds packed into Sutton High Street last year to see former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton switch on the borough’s lights.

Wallington

There will be hot food to sample and live music to sing-a-long to at this charming event. Santa might even make an appearance in his grotto as well.

Carshalton

Theo the magician will be switching on the lights in Carshalton Village where he will be joined by school choirs and even Father Christmas. There will also be a number of smaller events and activities that people of all ages can enjoy.

Hill Rise

Entertainment and activities for young children will be the main attractions at this year’s annual festivities. Children can take part in a treasure trail, tree decorating and will even be able to visit Santa’s Grotto at the Vineyard Centre.

George Street

Live entertainment, face painting, festive food and more will be on offer before the main event brings light to the town.

Richmond

More than 100 stalls and real reindeer will hopefully draw people to west London for the annual switch on. Richmond Council gift-wrapped £30,000 to its ‘villages; to hold Christmas events last years with the main focus being on Richmond town centre.

Eltham

Street performers and Roald Dahl characters will line the street this year to celebrate the 100th birthday of the popular novelist and the annual Christmas light switch on.

Balham

The Mayor of Wandsworth will bring in the festive spirit when he turns on the lights at this year’s annual switch on. Carols, a brass band and a Christmas tree market will be among the festive treats on offer month and, if you feel like making an ass of yourself there will be a photo booth with a donkey during the party.

Croydon

Croydon will have the X-Factor with R&B duo Reggie ‘N’ Bollie taking centre stage later this month. The X-Factor 2015 finalists will be joined on stage by Eagle’s manager Alan Pardew and club captain Scott Dann.

Fireworks will not be on display after children were burned during a pyrotechnic display last year.

Bexleyheath

Bexleyheath will host a festive celebration starting this weekend when the town will turn on their Christmas lights. Following the launch of the Christmas lights there will be events and installations throughout December including ‘school Christmas carolthons’, free gift wrapping services and Santa’s Grotto.

Orpington

Orpington High Street will be transformed into a festive wonderland when the Christmas lights are turned on. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the wares on offer at the Christmas market, the live entertainment and will even be able to meet Santa and his reindeer.

Beckenham

Local talent and wares will be the main attractions at this year’s festive switch on in Beckenham. Children can enjoy a Christmas trail through the town which they can complete for some gold coins and other visitors can take part in festive sing-a-longs that will last throughout the evening.

Chislehurst

Santa will take a break from his busy schedule to travel around the town ahead of the Christmas Lights turn on event. The Rotary Club of Chislehurst will also be collecting money for local charities.
