The driver of a car involved in a crash with a moped last week has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

Police were called on Thursday (September 15) at 5.12pm to a report of a collision between a moped and a car at Woolwich Road.

Officers attended and found an 18-year-old male, the pillion passenger from the moped, injured at the scene.

A witness who asked not to be named told News Shopper: "I was getting off at the next [bus] stop and I saw a group of people in the nearby gardens.

"I was shocked to see the accident had just happened behind me - I saw him laying in the road.

"When I walked closer and saw his dreadful injuries I could not move for shock and sadness for him - he was so young."
