The Blackwall Tunnel northbound was closed earlier due to a broken down van (August 25).
Traffic was stationary on the Blackwall Tunnel Approach with congestion stretching beyond Sun In The Sands roundabout and towards the Kidbrooke Interchange.
The tunnel was closed while the broken down van is recovered.

Contractors were called to the scene to clean up gearbox fluid spillage from the broken down van.
Traffic was stopped at 1.30pm and the tunnel re-opened about an hour later.
