Greenwich’s newest arts venue – a floating oasis on the Thames that has rehomed tens of thousands of plants from Chelsea Flower Show – will open with a flurry of events.

Farmopolis, which be home to an ambitious urban farming project as well as year-round events, will open its doors on Saturday, July 30.

Opening day fun from 10am to 11pm includes children’s theatre, live music, Literary Death Match, floral face painting, botanic jewellery classes, dream potion making and creative workshops.

The events on the first day are free, although there is a £3 suggested donation.

Disney’s Zootropolis will take over Farmopolis on Sunday, July 31, from noon to 5pm with two screenings of the hit film plus attractions including face painting, animal performers and prizes for the best fancy dress.

Looking past its opening weekend, Farmopolis has announced its first season of events for the rest of the summer.

These include live music, a series of talks, weekly children’s theatre,  yoga classes and workshops in everything from screen printing to playwriting, photography, woodworking and pirate gardening.
