A vulnerable Greenwich man who was the victim of a blackmail scam eight years ago has been targeted by conmen again, after receiving bogus notices claiming his house had been repossessed.

Victor Logan, 60, said his home had once again been “seized by criminals” after he came home last week to find his front door removed and boarded up with a metal gate.

Two weeks earlier Mr Logan had received a note stuck through his front door, claiming his house in Farmdale Road was going to be demolished and it would need to be empty by July 14.

But on Friday he came home to discover thieves had broken into his home.

He told News Shopper: “Property had been stolen, including my front iron gate and my front door.

“I found another iron gate had been placed over where my front door was and the empty place where my front door used to be had simply been boarded up with signs that said demolition in process.”

News Shopper:

The note left on his property stating Mr Logan's house would be demolished.

In 2008 it was reported that the Met Police were forced to apologise to Mr Logan, after dismissing his complaints of extortion, blackmail and burglary when conmen first targeted his home.

He received a number of bogus ‘repossession’ notices demanding money, before a metal door appeared blocking his front door.

Mr Logan, who suffers from clinical depression, said he felt suicidal the first time he was scammed, after he was forced out of his home and struggled to get taken seriously.

Now he has turned to a mental health charity to seek extra support to help cope with the added stress.

News Shopper:

Mr Logan believes he has been targeted because of his mental health.

After living in Farmdale Road since 1989, he believes he has been targeted again because of his disability.

“This can’t happen twice to the same place and nobody actually get convicted,” he said.

Mr Logan has sought the help of the Greenwich Association of Disabled People (GAD) to “see if they can do anything about this hate crime”.

He added: “Then I’ll be contacting my insurers to see if they can help me get the damage repaired.”

A spokesman for the Met Police said officers were called to an allegation of criminal damage to a front door in Farmdale Road on Friday, July 15.

He said police are currently investigating the circumstances around the allegation, no arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
