A woman is thought to be suffering life-changing injuries after she was hit by an alleged joyrider late last night (July 20) in Charlton.

Police came across the scene in Woolwich Road near the junction with Fairthorn Road around 11.50pm.

A female pedestrian in her late 50s had been hit by a car.

The Met Police described her injuries as life-changing.

The 19-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Astra was arrested on suspicion of taking a car without permission and driving without insurance.

He was taken into custody at a south London police station.

Woolwich Road reoped just before 6am.
