As the weather hots up Greenwich park has been packed with people relaxing in the sunshine, enjoying the view from the observatory and...catching Pokemon.

The Royal Park seems to be a hotspot for the creatures at the heart of a craze sweeping the nation.

Now available in the UK, the Pokemon Go mobile app sees players roaming the streets in search of wild Pokemon.

Yesterday players gathered near the O2 in north Greenwich for the area's first LureParty, which aimed to attract a host of rare creatures.

And many people also headed to the park, where they could roam the 180 acres in search of the most illusive of characters.

Another Twitter user said: "Casually catchin Pokemon in Greenwich park."

But amongst the excitement, police and children's charity the NSPCC have issued warnings over the dangers.

The NSPCC said the app could be exploited by offenders wanting to find children.

The children's charity said in a statement: "It's deeply troubling that the app's owners have ignored many warning signals and well documented child safety concerns."
