Greenwich Police found a small cannabis factory at a flat in Blackheath yesterday (June 20).

The landlord of the property in Castlebridge Road discovered approximately 100 plants in one room during a routine visit.

No one was arrested at the time and enquiries are continuing.

Sergeant Diane Hill from Greenwich Police said: "This is the second factory we have now found in the Blackheath area.

"I would ask landlords to ensure correct checks are carried out on the tenants and that regular visits are made.

"The damage caused to the property when a cannabis factory is set up can run into thousands of pounds, quite often holes are drilled in ceilings to run venting through.

"I would also ask that if any one sees anything suspicious - lighting equipment or large amount of compost being moved into a premises - call police."
