A thug who threatened to kill a man in his Abbey Wood home before marching him to a bank and forcing him to withdraw cash has been jailed for more than eight years.

Buddy Jarrett, 23, turned up at the victim’s home in Dianthus Close at around 4.30pm on January 19, 2015 armed with a knife.

He made demands for money and threatened to hurt his victim – a 21-year-old man – before forcing him to a nearby cashpoint.

When no money was produced Jarrett forced the victim home, threatened more violence, and left.

On January 26 this year, Jarrett, who committed the crime while on police bail, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court to eight years and six months.

Jarrett, of East Hill in South Darenth, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery at Woolwich Crown Court during a previous hearing in October.

Detective Constable Andrew Payne from Greenwich Police said: "Buddy Jarrett is a dangerous individual, already convicted of very serious robbery and firearms offences.

"Jarrett denied the offence until overwhelming evidence forced him to admit his guilt.

"Jarrett will spend a significant period in prison, the Metropolitan Police, and Greenwich borough will not tolerate knife enabled crime.

"This sentence should act as a deterrent for those who think about arming themselves with knives, we will do all in our power to remove you from the streets."
