A Thamesmead pub has had its licence suspended, following a stabbing on New Year's Eve.

A large fight broke out at the Barge Pole pub in the early hours of New Year's Day this year, and one man was stabbed in the leg.

Inspector Mannakee, of the Met, authorised a closure notice for the watering hole in Coralline Walk - the first time this has been done in Bexley borough after a change of law in 2014.

A closure order was imposed at Bromley Magistrates' Court, and the pub's licence was formally suspended until February 19 at a Bexley Council meeting on Monday (January 25).

Councillors added 12 conditions to its licence thereafter.
