The Woolwich Ferry river crossing was closed early this morning as police investigated a 'suspect package' left in a parked lorry.
Crossing services were suspended from around 6am whilst police arrived at the south side car park near New Ferry Approach where the HGV was parked.
It became clear the security scare was a false alarm when the HGV driver returned to his lorry by around 6.30am.

The Woolwich Ferry was then disrupted by a power failure, also at around 6.30am, which stopped services until gone 7am and caused knock-on delays throughout the morning.
Services have now resumed as normal.
