Horrifying footage has appeared on social media of a late-night brawl between shoppers in a Woolwich Tesco.

The shocking videos posted on Twitter shows three men and a woman involved in a violent scrap as goods are sent flying from the shelves at Tesco Extra, Love Lane.

A security guard tries to calm down the shoppers, shouting “Woah”, as they grapple with one another on the floor, throwing slaps and punches.

At one point, a man is seen picking up a bottle of Robinsons squash and launching it at the woman, who is also punched in the face.

The umbrella-wielding woman, who appears to lose her shoes during the struggle, shrieks hysterically before staff and witnesses finally manage to bring the brawlers under control after several minutes.

The videos were posted on Twitter by Kendrick Jones but have since been deleted.

Met Police said they were called to the supermarket at around 1.25am on Saturday but no arrests were made as no offences were disclosed or alleged.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Witness Megan Bramley wrote to Tesco on Twitter: “I think the fact five witnesses were screaming for security and no one responded should be investigated.

“Please praise the ONE member of staff who ran in and tried to assist and calm the situation with no back up.”

Tesco has confirmed it is investigating the incident.

A Tesco spokesman said: “Our colleagues called the police as soon as they were aware of the incident.

"They are now working with the police to help with their investigations."
