An Abbey Wood drug dealer has been jailed for more than five years after detectives seized cocaine with 89 per cent purity and a kilo of cannabis from his home.

Harry Simpson, 24, was stopped driving a hired BMW erratically in Commonwealth Way by police.

Officers found he was driving while disqualified and without a licence or insurance.

When searched he was found to be in possession of a large sum of money believed to be from the proceeds of crime.

Detectives charged Simpson on February 13 after seizing the cocaine and cannabis, with a street value of £40,000 from his home in Commonwealth Way.

At Woolwich Crown Court on June 22 he was sentenced to five years and three months in prison for possession of cocaine with intent to supply, two years and six months for possession of cannabis, two months custodial sentence and three year disqualification for driving whilst disqualified and a total of 21 months for two counts of possession of criminal property which refers to cash seized at his address.

The sentences are to be served concurrently.

He had pleaded guilty to all charges on May 15 Greenwich police donated £13,380 cash seized from Simpson to Demelza Hospice and the Battersea Cats and Dogs Home.

Detective Constable Chris Lewis from Greenwich CID said: "Simpson's sentence should serve as a warning to those involved in drug dealing in Greenwich and beyond this borough.

"Hopefully the donation of the cash seized can do some good in the community as opposed to the irreparable harm it causes in the hands of drug dealers."
