An innovative new theatre in Woolwich is giving audiences a new view.
Doughnut Productions’ pop-up theatre in the Old Turbine Factory in Nathan Way is surrounded by stages and has seats that swivel 360 degrees.
Their debut show this Friday and Saturday features The Following, about a man’s obsession with a woman he’s never met, as the first act and The New Adentures of the Wind in the Willows on an adjacent stage as the second act.
The new-style theatre was dreamed up by Andy Cooper during his theatre design degree years ago. It has taken seven months to build.
MORE THEATRE AND COMEDY
Doughnut’s Kate Austen said: “The Doughnut Theatre is like no other in its design. Audiences are now used to theatre in the round but this is a reverse round in a sense. The audience is in the heart of the action.
“We wanted a real immersive theatre experience where the audience felt part of the action although they are not asked to participate directly.”
Tickets cost £10 and there is a free minibus from Woolwich Arsenal station. Go to doughnutproductions.co.uk
