Three hundred children had to be evacuated from a primary school in Greenwich due to a suspected gas leak.
Halstow Primary School in Halstow Road had to be evacuated due to a leak in a gas main on the road.
To ensure safety, the school was evacuated on February 6 while a team of engineers from gas distribution company SGN carried out repairs.
A team from SGN has since visited the school to teach the children about gas safety.
SGN team manager Cheryl Howells said: "Although the children were pleased to get an afternoon off school, the headteacher told us they didn't really understand why they had been evacuated.
"This, coupled with the fact that the school kindly allowed us to use their hall as our temporary incident headquarters, prompted us to ask if we could go back and talk to the children."
The SGN group invited the children to look at some of the equipment they used and brought some scratch and sniff cards to help explain why a chemical is added to the gas to give it a smell.
The SGN team are hoping to return to the school later in the spring to install bicycle and scooter racks as part of their Community Action Programme.
