Is this a sign of the times? Woolwich's 100-year-old Marks & Spencer shop has been replaced - with a 99p shop.
M&S moved out of Powis Street last September as part of its business restructuring programme.
The closure caused consternation for locals, including Greenwich Council who held talks with the company in a bid to try and keep the business.
There was even a petition set up to try and keep M&S.
But the store closed and today (March 26) a 99p Store opened in its place.
Some people appeared to be quite excited about the opening.
Big crowd anticipating the opening of 99p stores in Woolwich , just had a trolley dash too #WhereisWinton #woolwich pic.twitter.com/d1ezbG4rP1
