The managing director at Southeastern, who operate rail services throughout south east London, have declared that their "performance was good last week".

Sharing their performance data, Southeastern revealed that 91.9 per cent of their trains were on time last week.

This news comes more than a week since Southeastern announced a timetable change to accommodate building work at London Bridge.

David Statham, managing director at Southeastern, said: "Our new timetable requires many passengers to change their travel patterns, and we thank them for their patience.

"Performance was good last week, with more than 91 per cent of trains arriving on time and most passengers seem to have adapted well to the new timetable.

One person who does not share the views of Mr Statham is MP for Lewisham East, Heidi Alexander.

She said: "I'm dumbfounded by the complacency of Southeastern in suggesting that they are performing well at the moment.

"If their performance measures are telling them they are doing a good job then I'm afraid there is something seriously wrong with their measures."

Ms Alexander has secured a parliamentary debate on the impact of the London Bridge redevelopment on the rail services and has previously described the service as "horrendous".

She added: "Most commuters will understand the need for works at London Bridge whilst also feeling that services have gone from bad to abysmal.

"Southeastern need to introduce longer trains, better communication and radically adjust their definition of good performance.

Work at London Bridge means that Southeastern services to Charing Cross are unable to stop at London Bridge until August 2016 due to three platforms being rebuilt.

Southeastern said that they will continue to keep a close on eye on the performance of its services and that the company is collecting feedback on Twitter to help with the process.
