A wheelchair-bound lady from Lee was left in the pouring rain for two hours at night while she waited for a pre-booked minicab.

Jenny Smith, who lives in Alnwick Road, has hit out at minicab firm Computer Cab (ComCab) for leaving a disabled person in a “very vulnerable” position after she used them in the early hours of April 6.

The 45-year-old had pre-booked with the firm, which offers wheelchair access, to take her and her husband Chris Smith, 49, from a birthday party at Charlton Park Rugby Club at 12.30am.

But the couple claim they were left waiting in the cold and rain until 2.30am for the driver to show up.

Mrs Smith said: “We were in the pouring rain.

“If I had been on my own, I would have been very vulnerable.

“I would be really really upset if I had been on my own. I wasn’t too happy then, it was cold and raining.

“My concern is, if it happened now, it could happen again to someone else.”

Mrs Smith says the couple were texting the company but were not told how long the driver would be.

She added: “It isn’t good enough.

“Before Saturday, I had had no problems whatsoever. But I am not going to use them again.”

Chief operating officer for CityFleet Networks Ltd, which owns ComCab, Malcolm Paice, said: “We are aware of the case and we are liaising with the passenger directly to ensure we are able to deal with the customer’s concerns in a comprehensive manner.

“Rest assured this complaint has being treated seriously but we are not able to discuss the specifics relating to any passenger journeys or any matters that arise from them.”
