A FREE school which opened last year, has had plans for a permanent home in Shooters Hill approved.

The Greenwich Free School, currently housed in temporary buildings and with one year group, will eventually expand and move into Adair House, Shooters Hill Road, after a council planning committee agreed the plans last week.

It will see the building remodelled to provide a two to four storey school, which will eventually be used by around 700 pupils.

Headteacher Lee Faith said: "Obviously we're delighted we've been given the go ahead.  We're already on site, in interim accommodation, and have been working with architects to make sure the school design is the best it can be for everyone's needs.

"Now we can get down to working with planning officers, to make sure the needs of both the school and the local community are met as we move towards our new school building becoming a reality."
