Detectives investigating a murder in Woolwich have named the victim as Rolandos Jakubonskis.

Police were called to a house in Elmdene Road at 2.06am yesterday morning (January 29) and found the 36-year-old Lithuanian suffering from stab injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be held at 1pm today at Greenwich mortuary.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating and retain an open mind as to any motive.

Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the house.

A 44-year-old man was arrested in Well Hall Road, Eltham, on suspicion of murder a short time after the victim was found.

He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.
