DETECTIVES investigating the murder of student Samuel Guidera are still trying to track down an anonymous caller who they believe may have vital information.

The man called Crimestoppers on March 1 last year, the day after BBC’s Crimewatch show broadcast an appeal for information on the killing of the 24-year-old.

Mr Guidera, who lived in Avenue Road, Penge, died after being stabbed in the heart in Newlands Park, Sydenham, on February 12 last year.

Police believe it was a street robbery gone wrong as his wallet was taken in the attack.

Investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said:"I would ask the caller to consider contacting us direct.

“We can protect their anonymity but we do need people to come forward with information."

If you have information call the Met on 020 8345 3734 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
