Gravesham traffic wardens are wearing bodycams to reduce the risk of attacks and to help settle disputes over issuing fines.
The CCTV cameras were introduced at the start of the week to prevent verbal and physical abuse to civil enforcement officers.
There has been an increase in aggressive incidents over the past 12 months, with considerable distress caused to the staff and witnesses involved.
The council reports all incidents to Kent Police and the new body-worn cameras will provide them with clear evidence to help take action against offenders.
The bodycams will remain off for most of the day, but switched on when a fine is issued, and if, there is any dispute.
The uniform carries a clear warning that the camera may be used.
