Twelve children from Belarus have been kitted-out with some awesome new footwear in Bluewater thanks to a Kent charity.

Last Friday (June 17), the kids visited Bluewater to receive some fitted leather shoes and toys as part of their annual visit organised by the Friends of Chernobyl Children-Medway charity.

As part of the shop's community Matters scheme, John Lewis was able to award the charity with £1025 to help buy the shoes and put the rest towards some more fun in the outdoors.

The shoes get a thumbs up from the kids

Charlotte Harper, section manager for children’s shoes said: “It is lovely to be able to welcome back some familiar faces and some new children to this year's group, for their shoe fittings.”

The children, aged between seven and thirteen, have already visited the opticians and dentist as part of their month long visit to the UK and are set to receive a year's supply of multivitamins.

This year's visit will also include a day trip to London and train journey to the seaside.
