A viral video of a laughing mum wearing a Chewbacca mask has made millions of people smile over the past few days.

But those happy feelings may have been replaced by a sad face if you've been trying to get hold of one of the Star Wars toys since seeing the feel-good video.

The electronic mask has been flying off the shelves of stores, with Tesco, Toys 'R' Us and Argos all seemingly completely sold out.

Amazon doesn’t appear to currently have any stock either if anyone is thinking of going online to get hold of one quickly to replicate the fun had by Texas mum Candace Payne, whose video has received more than 3.1 million shares and reached more than 140 million views to break the record for the most watched Facebook Live video ever.

In the clip, filmed in Candace’s car, the mother of two can be heard laughing wildly as she wears the mask that makes the same sounds as the Star Wars character.

The new internet sensation, who also appeared this week on James Corden's The Late Late Show in America, has posted on Facebook: "Let's keep belly laughing again and again.

"Never imagined finding my 'simple joy' would land me more VIEWS on a little FB video than Mark Zuckerberg has followers. INSANE. Find your 'simple joy!"

For those now being pestered by their kids for the giggle-inducing garment, fear not as stores have promised it will be back in stock soon.

A Tesco Direct spokesman added the mask should be back in stock on Monday.

A Toys 'R' Us spokesman said: “Further orders have been placed this week due to the outstanding demand following Candice Payne's Facebook video.

"Stock is already in transit and will be available to order again this Saturday.”
