A violent offender from Dartford who stabbed a man in the back with a pair of scissors at a barbecue and repeatedly punched a woman in the face just a short time after being released from prison has been jailed again.

In May last year, Ross Eaglestone forced his way into a garden in Swanscombe, where a man he knew was having a barbecue, and stabbed him in the back with a pair of scissors.

The man was rushed to Kings College Hospital, requiring emergency treatment to his kidney.

On September 8, the 27-year-old punched a woman in the face several times – before leaving her unconscious in the street in Wodehouse Road, Dartford.

The victim suffered serious head injuries – including a fractured eye socket and a small bleed on the brain – and required hospital treatment for five days.

Eaglestone, who was formerly of St Edmunds Road, pleaded guilty to causing grevious bodily harm with intent, wounding with intent and one offence of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Prior to his court appearance, Eaglestone made a threatening call to a witness from prison and attempted to get her to withhold evidence by making threats to kill her seven-year-old daughter.

The attacker was jailed for six years at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday (May 12).

Kent Police’s investigating officer Detective Constable Roger Harris said: “Eaglestone’s attacks were both shocking and cowardly.

“He left two people with serious injuries and it is extremely fortunate that they have both recovered.

“Despite the severity of his actions, and the considerable pain he inflicted on two people, he showed no remorse and even went as far as threatening to kill a seven-year-old girl to prevent a witness testifying against him in court.

“I would like to commend the victims and witnesses for the incredible bravery they have shown in standing up to this man and assisting Kent Police in this investigation.”
