A new "poppy picnic" in aid of the Poppy Appeal is set to launch in Gravesend to raise "vital funds" for veterans of all ages - including teens.
Head of the launch, David Taylor, 43, from Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, believes it’s going to be a great family event to raise much needed funds for the armed forces’ families as well.

Mr Taylor said: “To be honest this is something that we have wanted to do for quite a few years.
“We have tried to do this on a fairly big scale.
“Hopefully we can make a real difference.”
Speaking about the importance of why people should support the event, the Poppy Appeal organiser for Gravesham said: “Knowing some of the people it brings home how much we owe to these people.

“In my view it is vital there is such a lot more that can be done.
“The picnic is an opportunity to give the guys and families who have served our country so decently the services they deserve.”
The event is being held on June 12 to coincide with the Queen’s birthday at the New Tavern Fort, from 12pm to 4.30pm.
