Gravesend youngsters are fast on their way to becoming the next big thing in show biz thanks to an Eastenders' star and his newly opened theatre academy.

Frankie Fitzgerald - EastEnders’ Ashley, Dot’s grandson - and his Centre Stage Theatre Academy - is opening its second base in Gravesend to cope with the growing demand from youngsters wishing to reach the stars.

The academy is holding classes for budding actors, dancers and singers aged 7 - 18 years old at St George’s School in Meadow Road at a free open day on Wednesday, February 24.

Over 120 students attend the Woodville every Monday according to founder Mr Fitzgerald who can’t believe how much the classes have grown.

He said: "We started with just 15 kids and over the last four years it has just exploded.

He added: “I have the best job in the world, one day I’m acting the other I passing on that experience and knowledge to the next generation of performers - it’s so rewarding to see these kids learn and grow in confidence."

The new classes will be running weekly between 5.30pm and 8.30pm with an emphasis placed on nurturing north Kent talent.

Bethany Bright-Sedge, 13, who attends St George's school and Centre Stage’s classes at The Woodville, said: "I love Centre Stage, the teachers have really helped me develop not just my dance and drama skills but my confidence too.

“I can’t wait until classes open at my school - I’m definitely going on both nights.”
