As gale force winds swept through Gravesend, 300 cyclists from as young as 10-years-old, took to the Cyclopark to compete in a national competition.
Cyclists were keen to discuss team tactics going into the competition
Riders from all over the south east took part in the 10th round of London Cyclo Cross Association Cyclocross league yesterday (November 29).
Cyclists took to the newly designed course with speed, as riders of all abilities were pushed to maximum of their technical and physical abilities.
Hills but no thrills as cyclists battled it out for gold
TOP STORIES: The event proved to be incredibly popular with competitors, and large numbers of spectators, braving the harrowing winds and harsh rains.
Steve Gibson of the local 4T+ Velo Club. said: "[There was] some great racing, right through from the Under 10s to the awesome senior's race.
The course pushed competitors to the maximum of their abilities
"Standing on top of the hill, it felt like Belgium - cow bells ringing and lots of cheering people."
The senior men's race proved to be the most thrilling event for spectators with a titanic three-way battle developing in the latter stages of the gruelling, hour-long race.
Stamina was key for completing the race
The gruelling battle was eventually won by Alex Paton of the club Pedal Heaven.
Louise Mahe of the Ikon Mazda team took gold in the women’s race and Ifran Zaman from Bigfoot Go-Ride took the youth title.
