A Gravesend teenager has been locked up for 15 years after a "frenzied" knife attack on his ex-girlfriend's mother's partner.

Brandon Gurr, 18, of no fixed address was sentenced to serve time in a youth detention centre at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday (October 5).

He was found guilty of attempted murder after the stabbing - which continued after the victim fell on top of a baby in a pushchair - for which he was detained for 14 years.

He was also charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place, for which he received a 25 month concurrent sentence.

For perverting the course of justice, Gurr was sentenced to a year’s detention, to be served consecutively.

Oluleye, who is known as "Hustle", was detained for eight years.

Both men were convicted at Maidstone Crown Court on August 19.

The attack

Neil Davies was walking along Milton Road on February 10 when he was repeatedly punched and stabbed by the two men.

The attackers fled the scene, leaving him lying on the ground, bleeding from his injuries.

The stabbing happened near the bus stop

The jury heard how Gurr intended to get revenge because he wrongly believed Mr Davies had stolen £700, which had been left in a home on Brown Road, from him.

Rowan Jenkins, prosecuting, said Gurr "reacted to the brief disappearance of the cash with a tirade of threats, just extremely aggressive behaviour."

The court heard that Gurr told Mr Davies: "I’ll stab you for fun, do you think I care about you?"

Mr Jenkins added: "This is a man who has a thing about knives."

TODAY'S TOP STORIES:

Gurr was said to have used a "three to four inch" knife to stab Mr Davies "again, again and again" whilst Oluleye punched him in front of onlookers.

The victim suffered eight knife wounds, including four to his back, one to the chest, one of each arm and a slash wound to the bridge of his nose.

Mr Jenkins said Mr Davies stumbled onto a pram containing a 17-month-old baby - leaving the child and her mother, who has been waiting for a bus, "terrified".

Gurr and Oluleye were so focused on the attack that they "failed to see or failed to care at all about what was going on", he added.

As well as the attempted murder charge, Gurr was found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Three days after the stabbing he phoned Mr Davies’s girlfriend, Clare Flame, and offered to pay the victim £1,000 to drop the charges.

Gurr admitted wounding with intent, but denied the other charges against him.

Oluleye denied all charges.

DI Andy Featherstone of Kent Police said of the "remoresless men": "There can be no doubt that Gurr was attempting to murder the victim in this violent and prolonged attack.

"The victim suffered serious injuries and the ordeal must have been horrifying."

Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS South East, Jaswant Narwal, said: "This was clearly a sustained and premeditated attempt to kill and it took place in the most public of settings.

"People were just waiting for a bus and never expected to witness such a shocking attack taking place right in front of them."
