A contentious novel, about the saucy love life of a council’s PR chief involved with a major planning application, is making waves in North Kent.
The Last Punter, by Gravesham Borough Council’s PR chief Graham Cole, 62, addresses the scandalous goings-on at a fictitious local council.
Author Graham Cole insists the characters in his novel are entirely fictional
Mr Cole, from Truro Rd, said: "Some people are saying they recognise themselves on the pages but they really can’t. It is fiction, after all.
"For instance some are saying that I’m the central character. That’s ridiculous. He’s two years younger than me!"
TOP STORIES:
The story involves a plot to discredit a local politician which twists and turns ending in death and more scandal.
The former journalist, turned PR chief, turned author, said: "The characters are an amalgamation of all the people I've met over my time as a journalist and as a PR officer rather than individuals."
He added: "I’m already working on the plot for a follow up and a second book on another subject is also being revised."
