Gravesend lifeboat crews rushed to a rowing boat floating in the Thames after two swimmers untied it from a mooring.

While on exercise on Saturday (August 22) the lifeboat was called-out to reports of a rowing boat adrift just off Royal Terrace Pier.

The PLA Pilot boat had already recovered the rowing boat and had it in tow.

A crewman took to dry land at Newbridge Causeway and confirmed that two women had swum out to the rowing boat’s mooring just off the causeway and released it.

They then swam back to shore.
