A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a suspected stabbing at a Kurdish cafe in Gravesend.

Kent Police officers and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance (SECAMB) were called to Queen Street just after 7.30pm yesterday (August 18).

Steve Day, who works as a chef in Reliance Fish Bar in the road, told News Shopper he saw a man trying to 'smash in' the doors of the cafe before attacking two people inside.

He said: "It was quite horrendous.

"I was in here busy cooking and the next thing we heard all this smashing.

"The doors were completely smashed in and he was trying to attack them.

"We went out and they were coming out all bloodied up.

"There was blood everywhere."

Mr Day believed all of the men involved in the attack were regulars at the cafe, which appears not to have a name.

He said: "The men that were attacked have got to only be in their twenties and I'd say the other one was one of the fellas that usually eats down there.

"It's normally not too bad down here but we get the odd fight but nothing like this."

Two men were taken to Darent Valley Hospital with arm injuries.

Kent Police confirmed their injuries - which are not believed to be serious - are consistent with stab wounds.

A third patient was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with a head injury.

It was reported that a glass window had been smashed.

A 25-year-old man, from Gravesend, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in police custody.

Enquiries are ongoing.
