The Met Police Service and Kent Police held a day of action last week to kick off a joint initiative dubbed Project Alliance.

Project Alliance is a joint Bexley Borough and Kent Police scheme to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour by eliminating the constraints of geographic borders between the two forces.

Launching the project, Detective Superintendent Bernie Galopin from Bexley and Superintendent Nicola Faulconbridge from Kent Police delivered a briefing to officers at Northfleet Police Station.

As part of the initiative officers and PCSOs from Bexley and Kent Police’s Emergency Response Teams, CID and Neighbourhood Policing Teams carried out joint activities during the day of action, such as wanted offender enquiries, targeted stop and search and high visibility patrols.

Detective Superintendent Bernie Galopin from Bexley Borough Police said: “Those who travel between force areas to facilitate their criminality may feel untouchable, but Project Alliance demonstrates our commitment to cross-border policing and shows that borders are not a barrier to justice.

“The stark message to those engaged in crime or travelling around the area to commit crime is that there is nowhere to hide. We are not constrained by geographic boundaries, we will continue to share intelligence and patrol together and you will be arrested and put before the courts."
