A Gravesend man has been jailed for four months for drink driving, with three-and-a-half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

On April 13 last year Harjeet Singh Mann, of Valley Drive, drove a Jeep Commander in Old Road East whilst over the limit.

The 42-year-old gave a blood test of 290mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood - the legal limit is 80mg.

Mann pleaded guilty to drink driving, and was sentenced on June 29 at Dartford and Gravesham Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates sentenced Mann to 120 days in prison.

He was also banned from driving for 36 months and must pay a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.

Disqualification can be reduced by 273 days if, by July 27, 2017, he satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State, the cost of which will not exceed £250.

A 49-year-old from Greenhithe has been banned from driving after pleading guilty to assault, drink driving, and driving without insurance.

On November 1 last year David Walter assaulted a man in London Road - where he lives.

On May 6 he drove a Nissan Qashqai in a car park on London Road, with no insurance, and gave a breath test of 72mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35mg.

Walter was banned from driving for 20 months, on June 29 at Dartford and Gravesham Magistrates’ Court.

He must also pay £75 compensation, a £237 fine, a £150 criminal courts charge, £251 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Disqualification can be reduced by five months if, by July 20 next year, he satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State, the cost of which will not exceed £250.
