A couple who cared for an injured swan which washed up on Bawley Bay have been praised for their act of kindness.
Gravesham Borough Councillor, Jordan Meade, was walking past the beach on Sunday when he spotted two people comforting an injured swan.
The couple, known only as Mandy and Paul, sat with the swan for more than two hours whilst waiting for the RSPCA to arrive.
First time councillor Jordan, 19, said it was clear that the swan was very unwell.
Nevertheless the group remained on the beach until an RSPCA inspector arrived.
"I was humbled by Mandy’s selflessness and caring nature," he said.
"It is good to see people in our town doing what they can to help our wildlife. Mandy sat with the swan for over two hours and in this period I am pleased to say that we were supported by the Port of London Authority, two special constables and finally the RSPCA."

Sadly the poorly swan had to be put down later that evening.
Jordan added: "Gravesend is a better place because of people like Mandy and Paul."
