A Dartford woman is competing to be crowned Miss Speedfest 2015, in a Brands Hatch competition.

Freelance model and jewellery shop assistant Tina Money, from West Hill, is one of ten semi-finalists in the American-style beauty pageant.

The 23-year-old has until Friday (May 29) at 12pm to gain enough votes, through Facebook likes, to qualify for the next round.

Miss Money said: "I wanted to get involved because it’s something different.

"A photographer friend of mine takes pictures of the cars and he suggested it.

"It’s quite exciting, it’s really mad.

"I wanted to get more exposure for my modelling.

"It’s obviously American, amazing cars."

The three finalists will attend the third annual Speedfest event on Sunday, June 7 and compete to be the face of the American racing event.

Miss Money said: "Even if I do not win it would be nice to go to the event and meet some of the other girls.

"I am really scared of cars, I do not drive. It’s too scary for me.

"I am not much of an adrenaline junky.

"A lot of my friends are racing fans so they will be there."

The Miss Speedfest winner will present the Victory Lane podium to the Euro NASCAR race winners.

She will also become the new face of the Brands Hatch clothing range, and receive a pair of season passes.

Miss Money said: "I do fashion and commercial modelling, I have been on ASOS Marketplace and various magazines.

"It just hasn’t kicked off how I wanted it to yet.

"I feel like I am getting old in modelling, so I am trying to push it on."

Former North West College pupil Miss Money has gained 500 votes after family members promoted the event on Facebook.

She added: "It’s been absolutely nuts. I did not expect everyone to pull together so much."
